So, here's the rest of the chicken bones drama. I called my doctor, and she told me that I would have to go to the ER, because she didn't have the tools to check my throat. I DID NOT WANT TO DO THAT. The co-pay alone was a headache, but to be on the safe side, I went anyway. I left school, and headed on out to Providence.
The doc ordered a neck x-ray for me. By the time the technician came in to perform it, I was REALLY agitated. I'd been waiting in the room for about 1 hour without hearing ANYTHING...patience Lord....so, she came in, we did the x-ray, only to find out that I indeed needed a CAT SCAN....yes, you read that right. It seems as though my teeth and jaw bones were in the way of the neck x-ray, so they couldn't see anything....well excuse me for having teeth and a jaw. So, the nurse gives me this HORRIBLE egg white type mixture to numb my throat. You guys, I can eat ANYTHING on Fear Factor after tasting this stuff....it's nasty....I had to gargle, then swallow...ever tried gargling egg whites? Yeah--that's what I thought...so, now that I'm all numbed up, off I go, wheeled to the x-ray room, so that I can have a cat scan done.
This is about 2-2 1/2 hours into the game now, and I was taken back to my "room," to wait for the results. So, are you ready for this....my throat was scratched.....no bone, no cancer...(hey, I had a LOT of time to talk myself into sicknesses), just a scratch. I have to admit that I was so upset. I mean, 4 hours, an x-ray, and a cat scan later, and I only have a scratch? Isn't that a selfish thought....forgive me Lord....I called my Mom crying, and she did the best she could, but I was being so irrational. Hey-I'm a work in progress, and I definitely have to ask forgiveness for being upset that I WAS NOT ill. So anywho, I'm back at work finishing up some tasks, then I'm going home. That's it...nothing else...until next time!
Fellow Chicken Lovers...
I really do get myself into some precarious situations...but this one, takes the cake! I have a chicken bone sliver lodged in the back of my throat. I believe it's behind my right tonsil. Last night, while eating dinner, I broke into a wing, and the bone split. I didn't think anything of it, until I felt a slight sharp pain a little later. You guys, I've literally tried EVERYTHING: gargling, swallowing a teaspoon of oil, coughing my lungs up, q-tips, my fingers, swallowing a piece of bread....I am SO FRUSTRATED!!
I had the nurse at school look at it, but she couldn't get to it...we couldn't even see it. So now, I've got to go to see Dr. Turnage. Hopefully she can do something about it, and I won't have to go to an ENT specialist....I'll be sure to keep you posted....in the meantime....say a little prayer for me!
